Madurai - Meenakshiamman Temple
Aayiram Kaal Mandapam (Thousand Pillar Hall) contains 985.
Magnificient temple in size and architecture, Not something to miss out in Madurai, delicious cooking tasty breakfast brought me back to normal from tiresome journey of 8 hours on a private bus that kicked off late hours at 12:30 am from Tambaram, took a city bus from the Bus station at Mattuthavani to Sennikkal - located the other of Vaigai river, a distance walkable stands the mighty Meenakshi Amman temple.
Explored the periphery of the Temple, one of the huge rock pillared construction remains locked and its periphery occupied by small shops in front of the East Temple pagoda, There were three graded high elevation walls before you can reach the deity's presence,
camera is allowed inside the primary barriers of the temple where the prominent four directional pagodas of the a temple are visible, a temple museum "1000 pillared Hall" was located before we encounter another level of high risen walls, inside which a variety of prasadam is offered on pay, Sculpture is wide and variant walk way surrounding the another high elevated walls guarding the Deity, with an entry partially closed doors indicating restriction of cameras and other religious followers/ foreigners.
The pool of the temple is dry with construction activity in progress, february is fine to take bare foot walk around the rock laid floor all around the un-shaded temple within the four pagodas during peak hours, the whole temple remains closed at about 1:00pm until 3:00pm in the evening.Well connected to Trichy, Looks like Trichy is Hub centrally located to any place in Tamil Nadu, with very high frequency of buses to chennai.
